Asphalt Paving
Installation of new asphalt surfaces for parking lots, driveways, acreage approaches, and pathways. Hot mix asphalt installed in-house with two pavers and an experienced Calgary crew.
Commercial Paving installs new hot mix asphalt surfaces for commercial parking lots, drive lanes, access roads, residential driveways, acreage approaches, pathways, and walkways across Calgary.
Since 1982, the Calgary crew has built asphalt surfaces for property managers, developers, business owners, homeowners, and acreage owners across the city and surrounding area. The work runs with in-house equipment: two pavers, rollers, Bobcats, and tandem trucks.
A long-lasting asphalt surface depends on more than the asphalt itself. Excavation, grading, base preparation, drainage, mix temperature, compaction, and edge finishing all decide how the surface performs over time. The job gets built properly from the ground up, or it fails early.
Asphalt Paving
Parking Lot Paving
New asphalt parking lots, drive lanes, and access roads for commercial, industrial, retail, and multi-family properties. The bulk of Commercial Paving's work.
Calgary parking lots deal with heavy traffic, freeze-thaw cycles, drainage issues, snow-removal equipment, and seasonal ground movement. A lot built too thin or placed over a poor base fails early. The base gets prepared, grades get set, hot mix gets installed, and the surface gets compacted with the right equipment for the job, every time.
Concrete curbs, sidewalks, line painting, and wheel stops are coordinated through trusted local subcontractors when they're part of a larger paving project.
Project types
- Commercial parking lots
- Retail and office lots
- Industrial yards
- Multi-family and condo parking areas
- Drive lanes and access roads
- Parking lot resurfacing
Asphalt Paving
Driveway & Acreage Paving
Residential asphalt driveways, acreage approaches, and long private access roads. Paved by the same crew that builds commercial parking lots, to the same standards.
Driveways may be smaller than commercial lots, but they still need proper base preparation, drainage, and compaction. Calgary's freeze-thaw conditions are hard on asphalt, especially when the gravel base is too thin or the surface is installed over unstable material. Acreage approaches add their own challenge: long runs, drainage over hundreds of feet, and equipment access that has to be planned upfront.
When replacing an existing driveway, the failed asphalt gets removed, grading issues get corrected, the base gets prepared, and the new asphalt ties cleanly into garage aprons, sidewalks, concrete pads, and existing surfaces.
Project types
- Residential driveways
- Double driveways
- Acreage approaches
- Long rural driveways
- Gravel-to-asphalt conversions
- Driveway replacements
Asphalt Paving
Pathways & Walkways
Asphalt pathways and walkways for commercial properties, condo developments, parks, acreages, and private sites. Smaller-scale work that still has to last.
Pathways still need proper base depth, compaction, drainage, and edge support. Narrow asphalt areas fail quickly when the base isn't built correctly or the edges are left unsupported. The build gets sized to the expected use, surface width, and site conditions, with the same hot-mix standard as drive lanes scaled appropriately.
Project types
- Commercial walkways
- Condo and apartment pathways
- Park paths and trails
- Acreage walking paths
- Connections between buildings, lots, and outdoor areas
The process
The process, step by step.
- 01
Site review
Measure the area, review access, check drainage, identify base concerns, and confirm how the new asphalt ties into existing surfaces.
- 02
Written quote
A clear written quote covering scope, square footage, asphalt depth, base requirements, schedule, and pricing.
- 03
Excavation and grading
Strip topsoil and unsuitable material, shape the area, and set grades so water drains away from buildings, entrances, and low spots.
- 04
Base preparation
Gravel base placed and compacted in lifts. The base carries the load and decides how long the surface lasts.
- 05
Hot mix asphalt installation
Mix arrives at the proper temperature and is placed with paving equipment suited to the project. Hot mix only. No cold patch on new paving.
- 06
Compaction
Vibratory and steel rollers in the proper sequence to hit the density spec. Compaction is where most thin-spec jobs cut corners.
- 07
Finishing and tie-ins
Clean, feathered transitions to curbs, concrete, drains, sidewalks, garage aprons, and existing asphalt. Final walk-through before the job closes out.
Frequently asked
Common asphalt paving questions.
Do you use hot mix asphalt?
Yes. Hot mix asphalt for new paving work, every time. Cold patch is a temporary fix that fails in a single freeze-thaw cycle and is not used on new paving.
Do you handle excavation and base preparation?
Yes. Excavation, grading, and base preparation are handled in-house as part of every paving job. The foundation work and the asphalt come from the same crew.
Do you pave residential driveways?
Yes. Residential driveways, acreage approaches, and long private driveways are paved alongside the commercial parking lot and access road work, by the same crew, to the same standards.
Can you coordinate concrete or line painting?
When concrete, curbs, sidewalks, line painting, or wheel stops are part of a larger paving project, that work is coordinated through trusted local subcontractors. Standalone concrete and standalone line painting are not offered.
Do you offer night paving?
Night paving may be considered depending on project size, schedule, site access, and conditions. Routine paving runs early-morning to evening.
Concrete and line painting are also coordinated on bundled jobs.
When curbs, sidewalks, line painting, or wheel stops are needed as part of a paving project, the work is coordinated through trusted local subcontractors. One point of contact, one invoice, one schedule. Standalone concrete or line-painting work is not offered.
